Mr. Michael Kalish - 2 - 2 April 2001
to submit documentation for Board-consideration of new water standards. The county may elect to seek
revision of the concentration limits at a later date after submittal of the necessary documentation, public
testimony and consideration by the Board.
After implementation of the landfill gas extraction, groundwater monitoring results will continue to be
evaluated using the methods currently employed. Trends of VOCs shall be reported, as well as any
trends for inorganic constituents. It is noted that in addition to increasing trends for VOCs in MW-5,
increasing trends at MW-5 for total dissolved solids, chloride, and specific conductance are also
documented by the quarterly monitoring. These constituents may be indicative of leachate impact to
groundwater, and will continue to be evaluated after the operation of the landfill gas system is initiated.
The Regional Board anticipates sending the Tentative WDRs to you for review on 16 April 2001. The
Regional Board letter of 2 March 2001 requested that several inconsistencies noted with respect to the
cross-section provided with the August 2000 report be corrected and resubmitted. Your recent submittal
of 27 March did not address these. Please submit the corrections forthwith. If you have any questions
please do not hesitate to telephone me at(916) 255-3137.
WEND ARANO
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc.: Robert McClellon,RENS, Public Health Services,Environmental Health Division
