The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road approximately five miles
south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which stopped accepting
waste in May 1995. In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas
monitoring wells was installed by SCS Engineers (Figure 2).
The seven wells were monitored for methane on April 17, 2001. The results of the monitoring
are shown on the table below. The County used the Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction
Monitoring instrument. This instrument was calibrated by County staff prior to the sampling
event. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and
nitrogen(balance gas) concentrations.
Date: 04/17/01
Sampler: Dan Johnson
Code Date CH4 CO2 02 Bal Pressure
CH 1 SHALL 04/17/01 1.6 0.1 18.6 79.7 0.0
CH 1 INT 04/17/01 20.5 18.4 0 61.1 0.0
CHIDEEP 04/17/01 45.2 19.1 0 35.7 0.0
CH2SHALL 04/17/01 54.4 23.1 0 22.5 0.0
CH21NT 04/17/01 51.8 21.8 0.4 26 0.0
CH2DEEP 04/17/01 37.6 20.3 0 42.1 0.1
CH3SHALL 04/17/01 37.5 20.0 0 42.5 0.0
CH31NT 04/17/01 29.0 20.3 0 50.7 0.0
CH3DEEP 04/17/01 30.6 19.1 1.7 48.6 0.2
CH4SHALL 04/17/01 0 0.1 17.2 82.7 0.0
CH41NT 04/17/01 0.1 0 18.4 81.5 0.0
CH4DEEP 04/17/01 0.4 0 18.9 80.7 0.0
CHSSHALL 04/17/01 0 2.1 16.8 81.1 0.0
CH51NT 04/17/01 0 4.1 13.1 82.8 0.0
CHSDEEP 04/17/01 0 3.8 12.8 83.4 0.0
CH6SHALL 04/17/01 0 2.9 15.3 81.8 0.0
CH61NT 04/17/01 23.1 14.5 0.3 62.1 0.0
CH6DEEP 04/17/01 49.6 25.4 0 25 0.0
CH7SHALL 04/17/01 0 0.4 18.9 80.7 0.0
CH71NT 04/17/01 0 0 18.9 81.1 0.0
1
