Clary: I
CLOSURE OF UNDERGROUND HAZARDOUS WASTE TANK, LOCKEFORD PLANT MATERIALS CENTER
(PMC) , SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
We have determined, based on a review of your closure plan and the information
that you provided me by telephone on July 10, 1985, that your proposal is
acceptable as an initial step. This determination is based on the following
facts:
o The site is in a remote area.
o The tank involved is small (500 gal.) .
o The laboratory analysis of the liquid waste, which was removed from the r
tank in 1985, showed relatively small amounts of contaminants.
o The removed tank and surrounding soil will be transported by a licensed
hazardous waste hauler and disposed of at a Class I hazardous waste
disposal site.
n Joaquin Local Health District will be present
o A representative of the Sa
when the tank is removed and will determine the extent of soil
sampling required to determine if soil contamination exists.
It is understood that the soil sample analysis results will be provided this
office and that a determination will be made jointly with the San Joaquin
Local Health District, as to any additional clean-up actions that may be I
required.
If you require additional information, please call me at (915) 739-2333•
• r
Sincerely,
I
uane A.
