After reviewing the response, the San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has determined that most of <br /> the violations have not been corrected. Please be aware that Target Corporation (Target) <br /> will continue to be out of compliance until the outstanding violations have been <br /> corrected. <br /> Below is a summary of the violations found on March 10, 2008 and their current status: <br /> Violation#4 and 5, 25189.5 HSC and 25201(a <br /> When asked about how spills of hazardous materials are cleaned up, Mr. Andy Vargas, <br /> Executive Team Lead—Logistics, stated that residual hazardous waste from a bleach spill <br /> is diluted with water and disposed of down the drain. Target's response is that comments <br /> made by Mr. Vargas regarding the management of residual hazardous waste were not <br /> standard operating procedure for Target, and that it may have happened in the past. <br /> Submit a copy of Target's standard operation procedure on handling all spills and <br /> disposing of all hazardous waste. Include information on how all spills are cleaned, <br /> stored, and disposed of. <br /> Violation#12, 66265.31 CCR <br /> Regarding the cardboard containers with spillage, Target's response is that they were"set <br /> aside in plastic bags for our vendor to pick up with the next service." Please clarify who <br /> the vendor is and what the service is. Submit a copy of Target's standard operation <br /> procedure on handling contaminated solid waste(absorbent, cardboard, etc.). <br />
