CORRAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL LFG MIGRATION MONITORING
Monitoring Completed: September 8, 2003
Landfill Location
The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road, approximately
five miles south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which
stopped accepting waste in May 1995.
Monitoring System and Equipment
In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas monitoring
wells was installed in 1995 (Figure 2).
The seven wells were monitored for methane on September 8, 2003,by SCS Field
Services. SCS used a Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction Monitoring Instrument which
was calibrated prior to sampling. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring
methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and nitrogen (balance gas) concentrations.
Results
The results from the September 8 monitoring event indicated that all the probes are in
compliance (Table 1).
During the previous (second) quarter of 2003, probe GW-6-intermediate contained levels
of combustible gas which exceed the regulatory limit during that monitoring period. As
expected, this probe is back in compliance this quarter.
It is our intent to continue to control migration at GW-6 while also minimizing intrusion
of air into the landfill. The County will maintain collection of LFG from that portion of
the system to ensure that GW-6 remains in compliance.
Corral Hollow Landfill September 15,2003
San Joaquin County 2 Quarterly LFG Monitoring
