Harney Lane, Lodi
APN 058-060-46, SR0082543
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated August 27, 2020 and submitted on September 2, 2020 for the above noted
location, and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater for the following proposed
project.
1. A 58,968 square foot greenhouse and the addition of two new ADA restroom.
2. The OWTS usage wastewater averages 535.7 gallons a day from the following usages resulting from
50 full time employees.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
1. The existing domestic water well shall be tested for nitrates and DBCP. Samples are to be taken by a
third party and analyzed by a State-approved laboratory prior to issuance of building permit (San
Joaquin County Development Title, Section 9-1115.7).
2. Average rainfall recharge data of 15.6 inches per year used for nitrate loading calculation is not
acceptable. The study should provide documentations for the rainfall data and take evapotranspiration
when calculating deep percolation values. Rainfall data shall be taken from CIMIS station close to the
project site.
3. Submit an addendum to the EHD for the above-mentioned items and EHD will respond accordingly.
If you have any questions please contact Naseem Ahmed, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, at nahmed@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3018.
Muniappa Naidu, REHS
Assistant Director
c: Baez Consulting
1868 E.
