i <br /> i <br /> FLOOR AND WALL OPENINGS <br /> i <br /> An opening means a gap or void 34 inches or more by 18 inches or more through which an employee can fall <br /> to a lower level, <br /> An opening in a floor(walkinghvorking)surface 6 feet or more above lower levels must be protected from an <br /> employee falling by use of a guardrail system,safety net system,or a cover. <br /> When a cover is placed over a floor opening,the cover must be capable of supporting,without failure,at least <br /> twice the weight of employees, equipment, and other materials that may be imposed on the cover at any one <br /> time. All covers must be secured when installed so as to prevent accidental displacement by the wind, <br /> equipment, or employees.
