i <br /> Housekeeping and Maintenance Controls: i <br /> i 4 <br /> Housekeeping and maintenance practices are essential in preventing fires and furthering the spread of <br /> tires. The housekeeping and maintenance controls that will be an essential part of the Fire Prevention <br /> Plan are storage of flammable and combustible waste,maintenance of aisles,stairways and exits,and <br /> posting evacuation maps. <br /> Flammable Storage Waste: <br /> a. Maintain all flammable materials in approved containers and approved cabinets. Do not <br /> exceed maximum quantities. <br /> b. Label all flammable materials clearly. <br /> c. Store away from ignition sources. <br /> Combustible Storage Waste: <br /> a. Maintain all debris,scraps and trash in proper disposal containers. <br /> b. Maintain all combustible waste neatly and away from ignition sources. <br /> Maintenance of Aisles,Stairways,and Exits: <br /> a. Keep aisles free of clutter or debris that may cause a trip hazard. <br /> b. Do not block aisles,passageways or exits. <br /> f <br /> c. Keep all exits unlocked during work hours. <br /> d. Clearly mark exits with signs. <br /> e. Light all stairways,aisles and exits that would not have proper illumination in a tire. <br /> f. Maintain all fire fighting equipment and systems. <br /> g. The Superinteaident/Foa•eman/Supet-visor/Manager will maintain the accumulation of f <br /> flammable and combustible waste. <br /> h. Regular inspections will be performed for fire hazards by the Fire Captain. <br /> Post Evacuation Map: <br /> a. Post a diagram showing exits,fire extinguishers,emergency shut-offs,flammable and <br /> combustible storage,and staging area in areas where every person on site will see it. <br /> Training: j <br /> E <br /> All employees are trained on the fire hazards of the job and emergency evacuation. This is done on an <br /> annual basis and during orientation upon hire. Training is an essential way to avoid a fire,and in the <br /> event of a fire,avoid an injury or fatality. Training includes but is not limited to the following topics- <br /> fire hazards and fire prevention,use of fire extinguisher, evacuation routes, fire evacuation, fire drills <br /> and fire emergency procedures. <br /> i <br /> i <br />
