t CODE OF SAFE PRACTICES <br /> MATTRESS CLOTH CUTTERS <br /> (TRAINED PERSONNEL ONLY) <br /> JOB SUMMARY: Operate a precision cutting machine. Mark materials to be cut, <br /> Remove excess cuttings and discard. <br /> SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to work with precision and be safety conscious. <br /> Able to follow directions. Good attitude. <br /> EMOTIONAL <br /> STANDARDS: Ability to handle repetitive work. <br /> PHYSICAL Able to stand for long periods of time. Repetitive motion of hips and arms. <br /> STANDARDS: Excess cuttings are removed from table with a repetitive arm and wrist <br /> motion as they are discarded, Possible stress on back from standing at <br /> cutting table. <br /> SAFETY <br /> EQUIPMENT <br /> REQUIRED: Use of weight belt is suggested but not mandatory. Goggles. <br /> SAFE CONDITIONS: <br /> i <br /> Employees shall be properly instructed on the hazards of their work and of safe practices by bulletins, <br /> printed rules,verbal instructions and periodic safety meetings. <br /> SAFE PRACTICES: <br /> I <br /> 1. Employees must report all unsafe work place conditions. <br /> 2. No horseplay is permitted. <br /> 3. Adequate aisle space shall be maintained. <br /> 4. Workplace should be maintained clean and dry. Any spills must be immediately cleaned up. <br /> S. When carrying loads,care should be exercised to avoid over-exertion and strain. <br /> 6. Smoking is allowed in designated places only. <br /> 7. Employ proper lifting techniques and back injury prevention. Use handcarts and other <br /> mechanical material handling devices. <br /> 8. When lifting-use your leg muscles and not your back;bend knees before lifting up. <br /> 9. Never lift any object large enough to impair your sight. <br /> 10. Exercise care to avoid overexertion. <br /> 11. Wrist exercise 8 times daily. <br /> 12. When cutting use proper care with sharp cutting devices.Use training and exercise caution when <br /> cutting. <br /> 13. Remove metal rulers/guides from area to be cut. <br /> 14. Place one hand on top of machine and the other on handle. <br /> 15. Always lower guide by squeezing guide handle next to grip before starting machine. <br /> 16. Wait until cutter is stopped before lifting hand from top of machine. <br /> 17. Do not overextend your reach by leaning too far or lifting legs off of ground. <br /> 18. Be aware of other people around you. <br /> 19. If machine falls,stand back. DO NOT try to overcompensate. Unplug or turn off machine. <br /> i <br /> i <br />
