CODE OF SAFE PRACTICES <br /> FILLING PROPANE TANK (TRANSFER OF LP GAS) <br /> TRAINED PERSONNEL ONLY <br /> Instructions for the Transfer of LP-Gas: <br /> 1. Suitable gloves and eye protection must be worn during transfer. <br /> 2. Tanks and cylinders not in compliance with these safety orders shall not be <br /> filled. <br /> 3. The vehicle engine must be shut off. <br /> 4. The vehicle hand or emergency brake must be set. <br /> 5. All other sources of ignition on the vehicle must be turned off. Check the <br /> vicinity for other sources of ignition. No LP-Gas shall he transferred less <br /> than 50 feet from a potential source of ignition. <br /> 6. The filling connection(s)must be made before the filler valve is opened and <br /> pump is turned on. <br /> 7. If filling by volume,the stop-filling valve must be opened not more than <br /> 2 turns. <br /> S. The attendant shall stand by the filling control during transfer. <br /> 9. Tanks or cylinders shall not be overfilled. Close the filling connection valve <br /> immediately when liquid appears at small outage valve. <br /> 10. Close the filling valve and turn off pump. <br /> 11. Back off filling connection not more than 1 turn. Do not disconnect until <br /> 1 bleeding through vent hole in the connection stops. <br /> 12. Disconnect filling hose connection completely. <br /> 13. Replace cap on filling connection of filled tank or cylinder. <br /> 14. Re-check stop-filling valve to make sure it is tightly closed. <br /> 15. Walk completely around vehicle to make sure all hose(s)are disconnected <br /> and properly secured. <br /> 16. No smoking or open flames. <br /> 17. Assure proper vessel testing and permit(OSHA). <br />
