Joseph Road, Manteca
APN 216-310-18, SR0082620
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated September 10, 2020 and submitted on September 18, 2020 for the above noted
location, and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater for the following proposed
project.
1. Two-bedroom modular home.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
1. The SSNL Study supports the (OWTS) usage with the following conditions:
a. According to the SSNL, the estimated nitrate loading from existing and proposed OWTS usage is
19.88 mg/L as nitrate-nitrogen and the maximum contaminant level of 10 mg/L-N. EHD will require
the mitigation of nitrate-nitrogen through an engineered Onsite Wastewater Treatment System.
b. Percolation test conducted on September 3, 2020 yield percolation rate of 0.56 min/inch.
Percolation rate less than 1.00 min/inch shall require an engineered Onsite Wastewater Treatment
System (San Joaquin County OWTS Standard Section 1.10.2).
c. A Registered Civil Engineer shall submit complete engineering design plan to EHD for approval
prior to issuance of building permit. Fee will be based on the current fee schedule at time of
payment.
2. The existing domestic water well shall be tested for Dibromochloropropane (DBCP). Samples are to
be taken by a third party and analyzed by a State-approved laboratory prior to issuance of building
permit (San Joaquin County Development Title, Section 9-1115.7).
If you have any questions please contact Naseem Ahmed, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, at nahmed@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3018.
Muniappa Naldu, REHS
Assistant Director
c: Advanced Geo
1868 E.
