Turner Road
Post Office Box 24100
Lodi,CA 95241-9501
RE: Complaint#C00016089 Garbage Trucks Leaking On To Streets
This letter is to document findings of a limited investigation regarding the above referenced
complaint, in which Environmental Health Division staff made two inspections.
The first inspection was conducted on June 14,2001.The trucks were observed in various
locations throughout the City of Lodi. It was noted during the inspection that the trucks did not
appear to be leaking any liquid from the waste compartments of the trucks.
The second inspection was conducted on June 15, 2001, and during the inspection the trash trucks
and green waste trucks were observed. The trucks were working in a residential neighborhood,
and did not appear to leak any liquid from the waste compartments of the trucks.
Each of the trucks is equipped with a rubber seal. If the seal remains in good repair, the trucks
are designed to be liquid tight. The condition of the compartment seal will be checked during the
annual vehicle inspection to be conducted later this year.
The compliant could not be validated. If you have any questions in regard to this matter, please
contact Robert McClellon of my staff at(209)468-0332.
Karen Furst,M.D.,M.P.H.
Health Officer
Robert McClellon,Lead Senior REHS
Environmental Health Division
Cc: Donna Heran, Director, San Joaquin County PHS-EHD
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
