Pine Street
Lodi, CA 95240
Re: Draft Environmental Impact Report, California Waste Removal
Systems, Inc. Transfer Station Expansion
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division,' has reviewed the Draft Environmental Impact Report and
has the following comments:
1. The Hazardous Waste Screening Program dated October, 1989
states that no hazardous waste will be stored at the facility
for extended periods. If the generator of a hazardous waste
is unknown, how will the material be stored until it can be
removed by a licensed hauler?
2 . The existing site plan, figure 4, does not indicate that the
office buildings are connected to a 4 inch sanitary sewer
"line. Does this imply that the office restrooms and break
room are served by an on-site septic system? If so, are there
plans to connect to the municipal system?
3 . The. Draft E. I.R. states that city water is available to the
site and that potable water is supplied through the City of
Lodi, yet a functioning well exists on site. What operations
are served by this well? Will expansion of the station result
in increased demands on this well?
Should you have any questions regarding these comments, please
contact Jerry Wickes of my staff at (209) 468-3459 .
Fred Kauf an, ' Program Manager
Environme tal Health Division
FK/JW: lm ,
A Division of San Joaquin County Hcalth Care Services
