<br />11 <br /> <br />QUICK REFERENCE FOR DISPOSAL <br />Hazardous and Universal Waste Examples <br />Always consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to disposal to ensure the waste is placed in the proper waste <br />receptacle. Below is an example of the labeling you will find on the SDS to help identify how to dispose of the <br />item. If more than one label is found on the SDS, the higher hazard disposal method should be followed (e.g. a <br />gas cylinder and exclamation mark – the item should be disposed of in the flammability container). <br /> <br />The following examples are for reference only and does not include all possible hazardous wastes. <br />Flammables/Ignitable Corrosive Reactive Toxic <br />SDS symbol: Flame or Gas <br />Cylinder <br />SDS symbols: Corrosion <br />or Exclamation Mark <br />SDS symbols: <br />Exploding Bomb <br />SDS symbols: Skull <br />and Crossbones <br />• Kerosene (Liquid) <br />• Lighter fluid (Liquid) <br />• Oil based paint (Liquid) <br />• Solvents (Liquid) <br />• Non-empty aerosol cans <br />(w/ gas propellant) <br />o Spray cleaners <br />o Furniture polish <br />o Spray paint <br />o Spray adhesive <br />or sealant <br />• Drain cleaners <br />• Aluminum <br />cleaning <br />solutions <br />• Cement <br />It is not expected that <br />we accumulate reactive <br />hazardous wastes in our <br />stores.
