Box 388 Stockton, CA 95201-0388 Dear Mr. Padilla, California Waste Removal Systems has been a family business for seventy years, and in that time we have grown and seen many changes in the industry, in the community, and in the Vaccarezza family itself. In 1927 we were a "horse and cart" operation. In 1997 we are the leader in a refuse, recycling, and material processing operation with over 160 employ- ees. We have come a long way. With our continued rapid growth and after careful consideration, my sister Annette and I have made a personal family decision to retain a por- tion of our business and to merge the remaining portion of our business with United Waste Systems. It is important for you to know that the portion of our business servicing San Joaquin County is part of the merger with United Waste Systems. United Waste is one of the fastest growing solid waste collection companies in the United States and is made up of local, family- owned, refuse businesses throughout the country. Joining forces will allow us to better serve our customers and provide for employee professional growth. We have structured the merger in such a way as to avoid any incon- venience to our valued customers. They will experience little or no change in the day-to-day business of the company. Annette Murdaca, Thom Sanchez, and I will continue to be responsible for all California Waste Removal Systems business as it pertains to San Joaquin County. We will continue to operate under the name of California Waste Removal Systems.
