Fig Road, Manteca
APN 226-050-02, SR0082520
Jasjit Kang, RENS, Director
Muniappa Naidu, REHS, Assistant Director
PROGRAM COORDINATORS
Robert McClellon, REHS
Jeff Carruesco, REHS, RDI
Willy Ng, REHS
Michael Kith, REHS
Melissa Nissim, REHS
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil
Suitability/Nitrate Loading (SSNL) Study, dated August 26, 2020 and submitted on August 27, 2020
for the above noted location, and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater
treatment system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater for the
following proposed project.
A pool cabana/game room associated with the primary unit, a second unit dwelling and
conversion of one bedroom house into farm labor housing.
2. The OWTS usage wastewater averages 550 gallons a day from the following usages:
1. 250 gallons a day from proposed three-bedroom home and pool cabana.
2. 200 gallons a day from existing three-bedroom home.
3. 100 gallons a day from existing one -bedroom home.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
1. Based on the information provided, the EHD finds that the SSNL Study supports the suitability
for standard OWTS usage for future development on the proposed parcels, pursuant to San
Joaquin County Ordinance Code Title 9, Section 9-1105.2(d), provided the existing and
proposed OWTS and 100% replacement areas can meet all required minimum setbacks from
any water wells.
2. A minimum of 8' of soil separation is required between bottom of dispersal field and
groundwater. Historical data indicate groundwater at 9' below ground surface.
3. Septic sizing and design shall meet OWTS standard and daily flow rate of 150 gallons per
day per bedroom.
4. The water sample taken by the homeowner Lisa Viera from the kitchen faucet is not
acceptable. A qualified professional shall take water sample near the wellhead and have a
qualified laboratory analyze the sample for nitrates and DBCP and provide results to EHD.
5. The existing out of service Ag well (SR0062294) shall be either abandoned or put back in
service under EHD permit and inspection prior to issuance of building permit.
1868 E.
