1
CONCLUSIONS
NLS§ 4.2. The shallow subsurface soils underlying the subject property where the new filter bed
disposal area is to be installed, reveals a clay loam soil structure with acceptable permeability and
a potential high degree of natural denitrification potential at the deeper depths.
NLS§ 4.1. The nitrate loading calculations show the resultant effluent from the single family
residential dwelling will theoretically possess a concentration of approximately 8.7 ppm as nitrate-
nitrogen.
The application rate was determined from the shallow perc rate to be 0.522 gallons/ft2/day. The
total filter bed disposal area will be 1,540 sf of floor area. Therefore, the filter bed can manage:
0.522 gallons/ft2/day x 1,540 ft2= 804 gpd.
The existing on-site domestic well is non-operational. Therefore, a water sample could not be
retrieved for this report. A new well is planned near the same location as the existing well.
NLS§ 4.2. All decentralized wastewater management systems (septic systems) will eventually
fail. A reasonably long lifespan of the primary OWTS can be expected based on the perc rates
obtained and the incorporated design factors.
Pa«e -8-
Chesney Consulting
