URS
May 24,2004
Mr. Robert McClellon
SupervisorR.E.H.S. 04 MAY 25 PN 2: 41
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue,Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202-2708
Subject: Resolution of Subsequent Quarterly Monitoring Period
World Enterprises Site
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. McClellon:
This letter provides our understanding of the resolution discussed with Mr.Ted Tasiopoulos of San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD)of the subsequent sampling and reporting
period for the World Enterprises site in Stockton, California.
BACKGROUND
A work plan dated November 17,2003 to install and monitor the gas migration monitoring probes at the
World Enterprises site was transmitted to you for approval. In this work plan, the sampling interval was
specified to be"... on a quarterly basis for four quarters ..." Following receipt of SJCEHD comments, a
work plan addendum dated December 12, 2004 to alter the construction of the probes was transmitted to
SJCEHS for approval. The work plan and addendum was approved by SJCEHS. The field activities to
install the probes and to measure the methane concentration in the probes were completed on April 7,
2004. To meet the condition in the work plan for quarterly monitoring of the probes, the probes will need
to be sampled during the week ending July 9, 2004.
In a letter dated May 7, 2004, you specified that"The EHD is requiring quarterly sampling of the gas
probes to be performed within thirty(30)days of receipt of this letter." To meet the condition in the May
7, 2004 letter for quarterly sampling of the gas probes to be performed within 30 days, the probes will
need to be sampled by June 6,2004.
CONCLUSION
On May 17, 2004,Mr.Ted Tasiopoulos of SJCEHD was contacted to resolve the differences between the
work plan and the May 7, 2004 letter of the subsequent sampling period. Mr. Tasiopoulos specified that
in consultation with you, it was acceptable to complete the quarterly monitoring activities at the World
Enterprises site in July 2004.
If you should have any questions concerning this letter, please give me a call at(916) 679-2081.
Very truly yours,
URS
Jay ne
Se or ivil Engineer
cc* Ms.Judy McCampbell,RadioShack
URS Corporation
2520 Venture Oaks way, Suite 250
Sacramento, CA 95833-3200
Tel: 916.679.2000
Fax: 916.929.7263 YAPrcjects\Radioshack\work plan\052404.doc
