URS
Mr. Robert McClellon
October 22, 2004
Page 6
concentrations and the soil gas vacuums in the monitoring probes,to assess the pilot system's
effectiveness.
It is likely that the short-term pilot test will remove the pool of methane gasses that have likely
accumulated within the soil pores over the past years. If this is the case, it is possible that a full-scale
full-time system will not needed. However,if the methane concentration along the northern boundary
of the site does not decrease to acceptable levels, within a reasonable timeframe, implementation of
such a system or other remediation action alternative will be implemented. Data collected during the
pilot test would be used to size a full-scale active vapor extraction system.
URS will provide the SJCEHD with a work plan to implement the above activities within two weeks
following your review of this remediation plan. Please contact URS with any questions, comments, or
concerns regarding this remediation plan.
Sincerely,
Inior
nu e
il Engineer
Enclosures: Table 1
Figure 1
c: Judy McCampbell(Radio Shack)
K:\Wprocess\25532\WorldEnterprise\Remediation Plan\Lettendoc
