V. MANURE MANAGEMENT PLAN INFORMATION
A Manure Management Plan (MMP) was submitted to the EHD Solid Waste Unit under separate
cover. This MMP document illustrates nitrogen analysis and nitrogen management of the manures
that will be produced at the facility and reveals the cropland will readily assimilate the nitrogen
provided specific cultural practices referenced in the MMP are implemented and followed.
VI. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
NLS§ 4.1. The nitrate loading calculations show the effluent from the proposed project will
theoretically have an extremely minor nitrate -nitrogen concentration impact to the underlying
groundwater due to the land area size of the subject Parcel. Soil analysis demonstrates that
planting a grain -type crop over the cropland readily assimilates applied nitrogen fertilizers.
NLS§ 4.2, SSS§ 6.7. As the effluent infiltrates into and percolates downward from the soil -
effluent interface, the saturated soil conditions will create an anaerobic environment certainly
within the tight loam soils, thus promoting denitrification and retarding nitrification.
It is recommended these crop types also be grown over the leachfield area to uptake nitrogen from
the septic system effluent and harvested as animal feed. Animals cannot be penned or graze within
the leachfield area.
Groundwater analysis also reveals the effects that close proximity to the Delta has on the
underlying groundwater. Given the intense agricultural production in this region for the last
several decades, much higher nitrate -nitrogen concentrations should have been observed in the well
and water table analyses. This is likely attributed to a dilution effect the Delta has on surrounding
groundwater.
In addition, the manure from the proposed future animal populations will be easily agronomically
absorbed by the cropland provided that a grain -type crop is rotated on the subject Parcel and that
the manures are evenly distributed over the cropland, particularly before crop planting. There will
be no environmental impact to the subject property from offal and blood from the slaughtered
animals since these materials will be captured for processing at Sisk Recycling Company.
SSS§ 5.4, 6.8. The soils underlying the proposed leachfield area show a medium permeability.
The anticipated domestic wastewater flows from the facility will be extremely minimal.
Consequently, the proposed leachfield will easily manage these anticipated flows.
The application rate was determined from the perc rate to be 0.643 gallons/ft2/day. The total
leachline length is 300 LFLL: 300 x 2 ft2 = 600 ft' only accounting for floor area since the
leachfield must be built at existing grade. Therefore, the leachlines can mange:
0.643 gallons/ft2/day x 600 ftZ = 386 gpd.
Page -8-
Chesney Consulting
