Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system is currently located on the Site (Plate 2).
Proposed Septic System
Mr. Kahlon plans to build a new septic system for the new residence.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. One permit was identified; the permit, dated March
1984, was for a new residential septic system. The system included a 1,200-gallon
septic tank and three 90-foot leach lines. The permit has been included in Appendix 4
of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 90 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The residential subdivision
to the south of the Site and shopping mall to the west of the Site are part of the City of
Tracy and were not included in the estimate.
The immediate vicinity of the Site consists of rural residential properties. Farther to the
south is a residential subdivision connected to sewer services. To the west is a
shopping mall that is also connected to municipal sewer services.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach
lines only. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the current and future residents of
the Site. Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site
Wastewater Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering
recommendations.
LOGE 20-48 Page 2
