KLEINFELDER
beur ed from the well until the discharge relatively clear of fines. Approximately
P 8
five to ten well volumes will be removed from c monitoring well.
To reduce the potential for introducing contamination, the developing equipment will be
washed in a non-phosphate solution and rinsed in distilled water prior to use in the
monitoring well. Water produced during development will be containerized in 55-gallon
drums and will become the responsibility of Pintail,Inc.
a hn
The aquifer will be allowed to equilibrate for at least 48 hours after development. The well
will then be purged and sampled.
Purging and sampling will be performed with a QED bladder pump. During the purging of
the well, field parameters (pH, conductivity, and temperature) will be monitored. Samples
will be collected after field parameters have stabilized and at least 5 well-volumes of water
have been removed from the well. Samples will be collected in appropriate sterile and
preserved containers supplied by the analytical laboratory. The sample containers will then
immediately be sealed, labeled, and placed in an iced cooler. At the end of the day, one
water sample from the well will be delivered under chain-of-custody to the analytical
laboratory for analysis of.
o Volatile Organic Compounds by EPA Methods 601 and 602
o Metals by ICAP
o Mercury, Selenium, and Arsenic by AA
o General Minerals
3.3 ASSESSMENT OF SURFACE WATER
Two water samples will be collected from the Mokolumne River to assess surface water
quality. One sample will be collected upgradient of the landfill (under the Southern Pacific
Railroad bridge) and one sample will be collected at the downgradient (southeast) corner
of the landfill.
The temperature, pH, and electrical conductivity of the water at the sample location will be
measured. Prior to collecting each sample, all sampling equipment will be decontaminated
137-88-1663
