Backus [EH]
Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2007 3:10 PM
To: 'tjohnston@cityofripon.org'
Subject: Old dump site-Vera Ave
Hi Ted,
Back on Dec 15, 1 met with you and talked about the old dump site behind the sewage treatment plant on Vera
Ave. I'd like to clarify some issues:
1) The staging area for concrete, asphalt and soil that is west of the dump site parcel can be used to store
material for a maximum of six months. Storage for longer than six months is considered disposal. You
mentioned that the material would be transferred to Cal Crush for processing within a few months.
2) The dump site property contains a lot of exposed metal, glass, mattresses, plastic, old vehicles, concrete
and asphalt.
This material needs to be cleaned up and hauled to a permitted disposal site with the exception of the
concrete
and asphalt. The concrete and asphalt can stay in place on the property.
3) Some of the dump site property trash looked like it was recent dumping. Can people gain access to the
property? Is the access road gate locked during evenings and weekends? Are there other access points
that need to be fenced or gated?
We can allow some time to get these areas cleaned up but we will issue violations on the inspection report next
year for the issues above.
Garrett Backus, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 E Weber Ave, 3rd floor
Stockton, CA 95202
telephone: (209) 468-2986
fax: (209) 468-8392
email: gbackus@sjcehd.com
1/2/2007
