17 October 2007
AGE -NC Project No. 07-1569
3.4. SOIL DISPOSAL
If contaminated or impacted soil is encountered during the investigation, the material will be
characterized, the hydrocarbon -impacted excavated soil will then be transported to Forward Landfill
of Manteca California, a licenced Class II waste disposal facility, for proper disposal.
3.5. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the soil removal activities. The report will include a description of the
work performed and the results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions and applicable
recommendations will be included in the report. The report will be in a format acceptable to the EHD
and CVRWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
4.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist. Procedures for soil excavation, soil sampling and equipment decontamination
are outlined below.
4.1. SOIL EXCAVATION PROCEDURES
The soil will be excavated using an excavator and stockpiled on-site, covered by a plastic sheeting.
The excavated soil will be field screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an
OVM.
Based on OVM readings and field observations, the excavated soil will be segregated into clean soil
and impacted soil; only soil exhibiting hydrocarbon odors or measured OVM readings will be
disposed to a licenced landfill.
Prior to disposal, the hydrocarbon -impacted soil will be characterized by a DHS -certified laboratory.
After soil characterization, trucks will be utilized to transport the waste material for proper disposal.
The open excavation area will be surrounded by temporary fencing. No AGE or subcontractor
personnel will be allowed into any excavation greater than five feet bsg until proper excavation
shoring and/or sloping techniques have been emplaced.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
