No hazardoua w ste has been added after their original use; <br /> 3. No free liquids are released during the transportation or storage;and <br /> 4.The facility laundering or cleaning the na terials has a contingency plan and ra intains records of the types and quantities of the <br /> materials collected and laundered. <br /> Please note:California did not adopt the Federal exclusions for solvent-contami nated W pes. <br /> Can paper products (e.g., papier w pes) qualify for the above exerp tion as a <br /> "reusable soiled textile na terial"? <br /> o N .Reusable soiled textile ra terials do not include paper products such as paper VDw Is or w pes,because these are not re de <br /> reusable by laundering or a corp arable re thod of cleaning.Thus,paper products cannot qualify for the exerp tions in section 25144.6 <br /> of Health and Safety Code. <br /> Any paper product soiled w th a listed hazardoua w ste oh w ich has been identified as a characteristic hazardoua w ste is subject to <br /> Chapter 12[Standards Applicable to Hazardous Vhf ste Generators]and upon shipne nt na st be transported by a registered hazardous <br /> a w ste transporter using a Uniform Hazardous W ste M nifest. <br /> Are "reusable soiled textile na terials" (e.g., rags) soiled w th used oil hazardous <br /> a w ste? <br /> It depends.IA terials contanim nated w th used oil are considered used oil if they contain free flow ng used oil.A na terial that re ets the <br /> definition of used oil na st be na naged as a hazardoua w ste.Thus,rags that contain free flow ng used oil are hazardoua w ste,but <br /> na y be na naged under the exerp tion for"reusable soiled textile na terials"under section 25144.6 of Health and Safety Code. <br /> H®w ver,if the rags do not contain free flow ng used oil they do not re et the definition of used oil and thus na y not be hazardous <br /> a w ste if the generator has deternn ned the rags do not exhibit a characteristic of a hazardoua w ste.In this instance,the rags are <br /> nonhazardous and thus not subject to Hazardous VAI ste Control Lsaw ,including the exerp tion in section 25144.6 of Health and Safety <br /> Code. <br /> Are "reusable soiled textile na terials" (e.g., rags), or papier w pes soiled w th <br /> isopropyl alcohol, hazardous w ste? <br /> It depends.Isopropyl alcohol(IPA)is not a RCRA listed hazardoua w ste solvent;hew ver,it ra y exhibit the hazardoua w ste <br /> characteristic of ignitability.This particular characteristic applies to the IPA as a liquid.Therefore,if the solvent contarn nated rags or <br /> papeir w pes do not contain free liquids(using the paint filter test)the rags or paper w pes are not hazardous for exhibiting the <br />
