Thanks Robert
From: Hall, Tim (CDPH-DFDRS-FDB) [mailto:Tim.Hall@cdph.ca.gov]
Sent: Wednesday, April 04, 2012 3:01 PM
To: Robert McClellon [EH]
Subject: SKS Enterprises Composting Facility
Robert,
How are things going? Hopefully things are going better for the county than from what I hear about the City of
Stockton in the news. By the way I miss the old Round Table meetings and pizza at Micke Grove park.
I am working on an evaluation of statewide composting in general and specifically in regards to its potential
contamination of food crops. Most of my work will focus on composts applied to farmland growing ready to eat
foods which receive no heat processing. However, I am taking a look at a number of operations and facilities to
gain an overall perspective.
The SKS composting facility while rather small in production capability is interesting with its 28 day composting
cycle. Do you have any laboratory reports for finished product from this facility that you could provide to me? From
my rough calculations it looks like they should do at least two composited samplings a year. I would be really
interested to see what compost maturity results look like for this shortened composting process.
Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tim R.
