There is a high pressure area offshore that reduces the weather
systems from entering this area duxing the summer months. In the
winter months the high pressure shifts southward whereby allowing
weather systems to enter this area producing moist cool weather and
frequent heavy fogs. The cool moist Pacific winds enter the county from
the Carquinez Straight gap.
Historical wind data indicatesprevailing wind is from the northwest at
approximately 8 miles per hour. High winds occur infrequently and are
usually associated with the passage of winter storm systems out of the
Pacific Ocean.
