CLIMATE
San Joaquin County is characterized by hot dry summers and cool moist winters.
There is a high pressure area offshore that reduces the weather systems from
entering this area during the summer months. In the winter months, the high
pressure shifts southward whereby allowing weather systems to enter the area
producing moist cool weather and frequent heavy fogs. The cool moist Pacific
winds enter the country from the Carquinez Straight gap.
ri_ • •a I•
Historical wind data indicates that prevailing wind is from the northwest at
approximately 8 miles per hour. High winds occur frequently and are usually
associated with the passage of winter storm systems out of the Pacific Ocean.
There are approximately 30 people employed by the SKS Poultry Facility, as well
as 4 employee houses on-site. These are the first people that would be exposed
to any operational odors. The number of delivery trucks entering and leaving
the site is limited; however they could be exposed to any on-site odors.
The site is bound on the north by KRC Aggregate. They would be the closest off-
site receptors pf any odors. KRC Aggregate shares a common boundary just
north of the facility. They are a few hundred feet north of the site and about half
a mile from the composting facility. There are also a few ranchette homes south
of the site that could also be a receptor of odors produced at the site. The closest
home is approximately half a mile southeast of the composting facility. The next
closest home would be approximately 1 mile plus south of the facility. The
remainder of the land around the site is in annual rangeland with no houses.
