9 1211MOU
The feedstock consists of fresh poultry manure and wood shavings. The poultry
manure utilized in the compost is produced fresh daily on-site. The birds are fed
a consistent balanced ration, therefore the manure will always be a consistent
product. Wood shavings are the only other product that will be purchased and
brought in for composting. Wood shavings are inspected for odors, defects such
as mold and any other noticeable visual abnormalities. All loads of wood
shavings will be checked for any physical contaminants. Any unacceptable
materials will either be removed or sent back to the place purchased. If small
amounts of the wood shavings are contaminated they will be removed and
disposed of in a permissible site. The approved and permissible site of disposal
will be selected according to the contaminants or unacceptable material found in
the wood chips. A record of every load received and the result of the inspection
will be documented.
1NC".1 1*41014:11141"(0
Drainage is a minor concern at this particular composting site. The site is
enclosed with a roof and walls and sits on a cement slab. The cement slab itself is
elevated approximately 3 feet above the level of the ground. Any excessive
moisture due to rain or runoff entering the compost site is extremely unlikely.
The surface of the composting facility is a cement slab. The slab is flat and it
does not slope in any direction. As the process of composting evolves the
compost is windrowed completely and thoroughly at the required intervals.
This reduces or prevents any uneven composting or probable odor causing
sources. If any compost is left it is cleaned up manually in order to prevent an
accumulation of residues. The pad is routinely inspected for cracks in order to
prevent, minimize, and eradicate any probable odor creating factors. The
likelihood of the cement pad cracking is highly unlikely.
PROCESSING OR WASTEWATER CONTROLS
Since the composting facility is completely covered and on a raised foundation it
is highly unlikely that any runoff will occur or leave the building.
Z
