EL DORADO STREET • STOCKTON, CA 95202 • (209)937-8561 <br /> www.stocktonca.gov/buildingpermits <br /> A demolition permit is required prior to the demolition of all swimming pools. <br /> This permit will allow an existing swimming pool to be removed or filled in. <br /> Following is a listing of the general requirements based on the 2016 California Building Code, <br /> 2016 California Residential Code, and 2016 California Plumbing Code, <br /> Swimming pools shall be drained to the sanitary sewer clean out. Swimming pools shall not be drained <br /> to street, gutter, or storm drain. <br /> If the shell of the pool is to remain, a minimum of four holes (each a minimum 1, in diameter) shall be <br /> drilled into the bottom of the pool floor (one of the holes shall be at the deepest point). <br /> • The pool shell shall be filled with crushed rock material (3/4" minimum size to 1-1/2" maximum <br /> size) for a minimum of 12" deep at the bottom and then clean fill can be added on top to match <br /> adjacent grade level. <br /> • UNACCEPTABE FILL MATERIAL: wood, concrete, decking material such as pebble tech, stone, brick. <br /> • All gas, water, and sewer lines to the pool shall be securely capped off with an approved fitting <br /> (gas line is required to have a screw fitting). (CPC 722, 1206.3) <br /> • All electrical pool equipment, including the breaker in the electrical panel, shall be removed. <br /> ckol-vv ­ - 2 �-A- <br /> If a structure is to be constructed above or near the filled area, a geotechnical report/letter prepared <br /> by a soils engineer will be required. <br /> Inspections <br /> Two (2) inspections are required for swimming pool removals. The in-progress inspection should be <br /> scheduled when the holes along the pool floor have been drilled and before the pool is filled. The final <br /> inspection should be scheduled after all work is completed. <br /> If the pool is a public pool, i.e. apartment complex, neighborhood association, hotel/motel, etc., <br /> a copy of the FINAL Approved Inspections must be mailed to SJC Environmental Health Department, <br /> 1868 E Hazelton Avenue, Stockton, CA 95205. <br /> Rev.06/18/2018 <br />
