There are doors on both ends.
DRAINAGE CONTROLS
Drainage is a minor concern at this particular composting site. The site is enclosed with a
roof and walls and sits on a cement slab. The cement slab walls are elevated
approximately 3 feet above ground. Any excessive moisture due to rain or runoff entering
the compost site is extremely unlikely.
PAD MAINTENANCE
The surface of the composting facility is a cement slab. The slab is flat and it does not
slope in any direction. As the process of composting evolves the compost is churned and
moved completely and thoroughly at the required intervals every day. This reduces or
prevents any uneven composting.
If any compost is left it is cleaned up manually in order to prevent an accumulation of
residues. The pad is routinely inspected for cracks in order to prevent, minimize, and
eradicate any problems.
10
