26440,8875,&8925 Thornton Road Project No. 2017-00010 Page 19
County Maintenance District is planned for the proposed development, however, there are
domestic wells located within the general outlying area.
Based on the methods and assumptions described, in addition to our professional
judgement, geologic setting, and depth to groundwater,we believe the proposed project will
cause a build-up of nitrate in the ground water above 10 mg/L-N over the long term.
5.2 Methods of Mitigation
Based on the result of the nitrate loading calculation, mitigation measures are warranted. To
mitigate potential buildup of nitrate in the aquifer, an advanced treatment system should be
installed which is capable of reducing nitrate to 10 mg/L-N (or below). An appropriate depth
to groundwater offset should be designed into the meet EHD criteria, which requires a
minimum of five feet of separation between the bottom of the leach trench and the static
ground water table.
6.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Our office concludes that the proposed project will cause a build-up of nitrates above 10
mg/L-N in the ground water.
We recommend that the onsite system be designed to incorporate advanced treatment
which reduces nitrate to an acceptable level as required by San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department.
7.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed, our findings obtained, and our conclusions
proposed in accordance with generally accepted engineering principles and practices. This
warranty is in lieu of all other warranties either expressed or implied. Test findings and
statements of professional opinion do not constitute a guarantee or warranty, expressed or
implied.
The professional findings contained in this nitrate loading study are strictly based on the
information provided regarding the proposed project, other consultant's reports and
conclusions, surficial geologic conditions encountered across the site by others.
Furthermore, the analysis, conclusions and recommendations contained in this report are
based on the site conditions as they existed at the time we performed our study.
Petralogix Engineering,Inc.
26675 Bruella Road,Gait,Ca 95632
(2091 400 5729
www.petralogix.com
