Waste Absorption and Neutralization Procedures* lConLinuedl <br />Waste <br />Catego <br />Procedure to Absorb and/or Neutralize" <br />Other <br />• Contain the spill by surrounding it or by diking the perimeter with scoops of loose <br />oxidizer <br />absorbent material compatible with the substance spilled. Begin at the side(s) where <br />waste <br />release flows toward drains or other conduits to the environment. <br />• Next, cover the spill with loose, compatible absorbent material, working from the <br />perimeter inward toward the center. Use sufficient quantities to completely cover the <br />liquid. Carefully stir the absorbent -covered spill with a shovel. <br />• Very small spills may be contained and absorbed solely with an absorbent sock. <br />• Use a shovel to scoop up the loose absorbent.
