Brusca File No. 137•. Page 9
March 1, 2018
Murphy Parkway Property Excavation and Materials Management Plan
the receiving facility will be received prior to off -haul. Any waste materials designated for off -
haul will be loaded into transport vehicles in a manner that prevents the spilling or tracking of
materials. Any such material that spills or falls onto the ground will be immediately placed into
the truck or in its original container/stockpile, and the affected area will be immediately cleaned
up. Transport and disposal will be performed by properly licensed contractors at an appropriate
pre -approved facility in accordance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations.
Transport manifests and disposal documentation will be maintained.
6.8 Personal Protection/Safety Procedures
Based on site investigation and characterization data developed by AGE, the residual solid waste
materials at the site are not known to present a significant chemical exposure threat to site
workers involved with the excavation and materials management plan activities described herein.
However, in general, basic personal protection and safety procedures should be implemented
during the planned excavation and waste management activities. Such personal protection
includes a hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, and boots. Additionally, rubber gloves should be
worn by all workers contacting waste materials.
Dust control measures will be implemented to limit or prevent airborne particles during activities
that involve solid waste and soil disturbance. An effective dust control measure is the wetting of
exposed materials to limit airborne soil particles. Wetting can be accomplished via liberal
sprinkling of exposed materials with a hose, water truck, or other suitable means. The actual
methods used for dust control will depend on the nature of the soil disturbance activity, the size
of the area disturbed, soil moisture content, and weather conditions. As a general rule, measures
will be implemented so that no visible dust is generated during site activities.
It is emphasized that this EMMP does not address physical hazards (such as those posed by the
known waste glass materials on the property); protection against physical and construction
hazards are the responsibility of future contractors/workers and other site personnel and are not
included in the scope of this plan. It is recommended that all agencies, companies, and workers
whose activities may result in exposure to residual solid wastes at the subject site (including
waste glass materials and dust) develop health and safety plans specific to the site conditions and
their activities, and that such measures consider/address potential inhalation hazards posed by
glass dust, as well as cut/abrasion hazards posed by glass fragments.
7.0 RECORD KEEPING AND REPORTING
All work associated with excavation and management of residual solid wastes in conjunction
with clean closure activities at the site will be documented. The documentation will be
developed and compiled by a qualified environmental professional. Reporting and
documentation will include the following:
• Observation and documentation of removal of waste
• Verification sampling and stockpiled waste sampling
• Analytical laboratory test results
BruscaAssociates.com • P.O.
