2 <br />The waste excavation and stockpiling work at the site wrapped up on Friday. The work appears to have been successful <br />in removing the wastes beneath the onsite capped area. Late last week an area of deeper waste was discovered beneath <br />the southerly portion of the excavation area (up to about six feet deep; see attached photo). The deeper excavation <br />work apparently removed the wastes in this area; however, very limited/patchy areas of discolored soils (predominantly <br />light-reddish color) remain in this area. Verification soil sampling in this area conducted on Friday included sampling <br />within the deeper excavation area, including samples of discolored soils. <br />A total of five stockpiles of waste materials were created (SP1 through SP5). One of the stockpiles (SP4) is quite small <br />and comprised of large chunks of “cemented” glass waste materials. A total of 70 verification soil samples (identified as <br />VS1 through VS70) were collected on a grid pattern beneath the waste removal area. The laboratory results are starting <br />to come in and I’m tabulating and evaluating the data.
