cioned in your letter will be corrected within two weeks . one erroneous point contained in Mr. Macaulay ' s report relates to the site where cannery wastes have been dumped in past years . This area is no longer used and is not used for cannery wastes . The cannery wastes that are there are relatively dry on the sur- face but extremely wet beneath the first foot or so of waste material . The proper method of handling this material would be to bring a bulldozer into the area to 'doze the area flat and cover with dirt. Because of the unstable condition of the waste, this cannot be done and will have to remain in this condition un- til such time that it dries sufficiently for the City to take the necessary corrective action. Over the past two months , the City has completely changed the 1,E:,::%,d- fill personnel. The personnel presently assigned to the landfil-I site are under the direction of a Mr. Larry McCormick wi-Lo nas laany years in the construction field and is an extremely able per- son witr, respect to compaction and earth -moving. In addition to changing the personnel at the site, the City Council , at its meet- .L11cj of February 6, 1973, authorized the staff to a self-loading scra,nor that will enable the City to handle considerably more cover than it is presently handling and should speed up the cover- ing operation.
