Inspection Report Comments:
Notes:
An onsite meeting was held on July 29, 2021. The meeting was conducted with Andres Gomez (property owner), Arlene
Gomez (daughter of the owners), Jeffrey Sharp (Sharp Environmental Technologies, Inc. - Engineering Geologist),
Robert Hayward (Hayward Environmental Consulting — President), Russell Hartranft (Baader Environmental Consulting,
Inc. - Staff Geologist) and EHD staff(Robert McClellon— Program Coordinator and Sandip Singh—REHS). EHD was
informed that the court case has been dismissed and Phase II of the Clean Closure was discussed.
A plan to conduct a Phase II investigation was submitted and approved by the EHD. The investigation was conducted
from August 10, 2021 to August 12, 2021 with Russell Hartranft, David Green (Heavy Equipment Operator), Chris Aguirre
(Spotter)and Sandip Singh present at the site. Five trenches were excavated to collect samples and for waste
characterization. The depth of the trenches ranged from 4 ft. to 15 ft. Fifteen samples were collected from each of the
trenches for TPH/PCBs/PAHs, asbestos and metals. A photo ionization detector(PID)was used to detect VOCs.
Samples were also collected from the well water and stock piled soil (located northwest of the residence). The samples
were sent to ASSET Laboratory for analysis. In addition, eight potholes were excavated to delineate the waste at different
locations within the dumpsite. Waste in the form of wood, rubber, metal, concrete, brick and other waste debris were
observed. The volume of waste is estimated at 7000 cu. yd. Even though the depth of the waste was determined, the
extent of the waste has not been determined, specifically on the west side of the property. The Phase II investigation was
incomplete due to lack of labor and the necessary equipment to complete the project.
Currently, the Phase II investigation report has not been received by the EHD.
CalRecycle Solid Waste Information System(SWIS) 2 of 2
