iv. A rise in the total volume of on-site hazardous waste can impact storage <br /> constraints at the hazardous waste accumulation area <br /> b. On-site management of hazardous waste <br /> i. Excess damaged or non-sellable products unnecessarily increase the <br /> volume of hazardous waste that must be managed at the distribution <br /> center <br /> ii. An increased volume of hazardous waste places additional stressors on <br /> the maintenance department which is tasked with processing said items <br /> iii. Additional supplies (bags, labels, absorbent material, etc...) are necessary <br /> to deal with proliferation of hazardous waste, which increases costs <br /> associated with management of the program <br /> iv. Increases in the volume of generated hazardous waste can result in <br /> additional removal service requests that amplify the costs of managing <br /> the program <br /> c. Off-site management of hazardous waste <br /> i. Dollar Tree does not manage hazardous waste off-site <br /> 1. All hazardous wastes are removed from the distribution center by <br /> Stericycle, which transports them for proper disposal <br /> 7. REJECTED SOURCE REDUCTION MEASURES <br /> The following source reduction measures were rejected: <br /> a. Donate usable product to area agencies <br /> i. Donating potentially hazardous product entails significant risks that we <br /> choose not to assume at this point in time. <br /> 8. SELECTED MEASURES AND IMPLEMENTATION DATES <br /> The following source reduction measures were selected for application: <br /> a. Refresher training across the organization <br /> b. Communication strategy: top of mind <br /> c. Minimizing broken, damaged and expired materials <br /> These administrative & operational measures shall be adopted in effort to substantially <br /> increase annual training and communication throughout the organization.
