Backus, Garrett [EHD]
From: Backus, Garrett [EHD]
Sent: Tuesday, April 13, 2021 8:24 AM
To: Dylan Clark (Dylan.Clark@dtsc.ca.gov)
Cc: Henry, Michelle D [EHD]; Nissim, Melissa [EHD]
Subject: Stericycle receipt documentation incomplete
Attachments: 4-2019 amalgam.pdf, 10- 2020 photo.pdf
Contacts: Dylan Clark - DTSC
Hi Dylan,
I recently inspected a dental office that had dental amalgam and photochemical waste. Stericycle is hauling the waste
from the site (I've attached the receipts). The records include the medical waste receipts for context. My problem is
the receipts do not demonstrate that the dental amalgam is going to a mercury recycling facility and the photo waste is
going to a silver recycling facility. I've asked the dental office to obtain this information from Stericycle but they are not
getting anywhere. I'm just wondering if this is something for DTSC to inspect Stericycle as a transporter?
Thank you,
Garrett Backus, Ld.
