AdvanTek -FIX
asp
Treatment Systems Overview ,ftewnw
ad
1_80D-30-SH3
Orenco's AdvanTexTM-RX Treatment System is an innovative technology for treatment of
onsite wastewater that has been particularly successful at reducing nitrogen in processing tank
effluent. The AdvanTexTM-RX Treatment System contains a packed bed filter that uses special-
ly designed textile material within a pre-assembled filter unit.
System Performance
Orenco Systems has been researching, designing, testing, and selling a variety of textile fil-
ters for about six years. Hundreds of Orenco's textile filters have been installed throughout
the United States on sites ranging from federal demonstration projects to university testing
facilities, single-family homes, commercial properties, and community systems. Depending
on the system configuration,AdvanTexTM-RX Treatment Systems are producing effluent with
Biochemical Oxygen Demand(BOD) as low as 5 mg/L or less,Total Suspended Solids
(TSS) of 5 mg/L or less, and Total Nitrogen (TN)often less than 10 mg/L.
System Benefits
Significantly smaller land area is required for the AdvanT&TM-RX Treatment System than is
required for sand and gravel filters. That's because textile has demonstrated the capacity to
support microbial populations that can treat filtered processing tank effluent at greater'
hydraulic loading rates. In fact, loading rates for AdvanTexTM-RX Treatment Systems are
typically 5-20 times higher than for sand filters. In addition, reductions in drainfield size are
often permitted with AdvanTexTM Treatment Systems. Moreover, textile is lightweight, mak-
r
ing it ideal for prepackaging and shipping, which simplifies installation and reduces costs.
System Operation and Maintenance
The AdvanTexTM-RX Treatment System is an advanced technology that produces effluent
which meets advanced secondary wastewater treatment levels. Like most advanced tech-
nologies, the AdvanTexTM-RX Treatment System requires regular maintenance. As a condi-
tion of warranty, property owners must purchase a service contract from a certified third
party provider. Orenco Systems, Inc. provides a three-year warranty on all components.
The AdvanTexTM-RX Treatment System comes with an audible alarm to signal maintenance
or high water conditions. And it's sized to allow for a minimum of 24 hours of wastewater
storage (at average daily flows). That means an operator can provide service to the system
during normal working hours, regardless of when the alarm occurs.
The AdvanTexTM-RX System's pumps typically run just 90 minutes per day, so
AdvanTex'rm-RX uses very little power . . . an average of$5 per month (based on the
national average of eight cents per kilowatt hour). Compare that to power costs of up to
$20-$60 per month for many "activated sludge" aerobic treatment units.
Models and Sizes
Orenco has developed two AdvanTexTm-RX Treatment Systems that vary in configuration and
expected final effluent characteristics: Mode #1 and Mode#3. Both Modes are described in
greater detail, following. The specifications of our core module are as follows:
Model Physical Dimensions Filter Weight, Dry
RX-30 4' x 8' x 2.5' approx. 600 lbs.
ETP-RX-1
Rev.5.1®r027M
Page 1
