The report was dated 5/28/14. The operator,
after receiving this report, sent in another sample for testing. The results of that sample has not yet been
received by the operator.
1. Operators that produce compost shall ensure that the density of the fecal coliform in compost shall be less
than 1,000 MPN/1g.
2. Operator was instructed to review his written plan on sample collection as well as to submit the next product
sample report when received.
Inspection„eport'Ca'mments : '
Routine monthly inspection conducted on this date and the following was noted:
1. There was a small amount of litter observed on the adjacent properties.
2. Signs of regular cleaning of Frewert Road was observed.
3. All records were available for review.
4. The odor and fly population was light. Dust was minimal.
5. The treated wood waste (TWW) bin was empty. Disposal documentation showing pickup of the TWW by
Waste Management and disposal at Forward Landfill on 4/30/14 was available for review.
6. The temperature of the greenwaste and overs was 132 F and 109 F respectively. The temperature range
of the ground material and windrows was 162 F to 178 F and 147 F to 156 F respectively. The
temperature of the pre-screened product and the screened product was 126 F and 104 F respectively.
The temperature of the hogfuel pile was 97 F.
7. A complaint stating that the facility was producing strong odors and loud noises was received. A site
visit was done on 5/29/14. A walkthrough of the facility was done. No strong odors were detected.
According to the operator, the noise part of the complaint probably came from the SCARAB (windrow
turner) because it produces loud sounds. The operator also stated that he has a new muffler for the
SCARAB that will greatly reduce the sound. Operator was instructed to have the muffler installed in the
SCARAB by the next routine inspection in June. Complaint will be abated once verification that the
SCARAB has the new muffler installed and the noise produced from the SCARAB is low.
