Thornton Rd, Lodi
APN 055-150-26, SR0083045
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated December 15, 2020 and submitted on December 18, 2020 for the above noted
location, and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater from the proposed tenant
improvement to existing gas station.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
a) The study states the proposed project will have total of 11 restrooms fixtures and each fixture will
generate 150 gallons per day of wastewater. The Usage 150 gallons per day is not justified. Provide
EHD reasoning and data to support the claim that each fixture will generated 150 gallons per day.
b) A commercial septic system typical loads total nitrogen from wastewater of 85 mg/L-N. The study uses
34.425 mg/L-N to determine potential nitrate loading from proposed improvements.
Submit an addendum to EHD addressing above-mentioned concerns and EHD will respond accordingly.
If you have any questions please contact Naseem Ahmed, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, at nahmed@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3018.
Muniappa Naidu, REHS
Assistant Director
c: Mike Smith Engineering & AdvancedGeo Environmental
1868 E.
