The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow
Road approximately five miles south of Tracy, California (Figure
1). The site is a Class III landfill which will stop accepting
waste in May 1995. In accordance with closure regulations, a
network of perimeter gas monitoring wells is being installed by
SCS Engineers. In December 1994, SCS Engineers installed GW -3,
GW -4, GW -5, and GW -6. The seven scheduled well locations are
shown on Figure 2. Due to the rupture of the Texaco oil pipeline
during drilling, installation of GW -1, GW -2, and GW -7 was
delayed. Alternative locations for GW -1 and GW -7 were proposed
in a letter to the California Integrated Waste Management Board,
dated January 13, 1995. These wells are scheduled to be
completed as soon as we receive approval of the alternate well
locations and field conditions improve. The wells are to be
monitored quarterly for methane.
For the quarterly gas monitoring in January 1995, the four
completed wells were tested. In addition, the previous method of
testing a two -foot -deep hole was used at the proposed locations
for GW -1, GW -2, and GW -7. The following table shows the results
of the monitoring for January 30, 1995.
