Piping Closed in Place Boring Permit Application <br /> 3515 Navy Dr. , Stockton , CA <br /> Page 2 <br /> Soil from the sample interval will be examined in the field for observable signs of petroleum hydrocarbons , <br /> screened for hydrocarbon vapors using a photoionization detector, and examined for soil classification . <br /> Soil will be classified in general accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System . The soil <br /> classification and description , grain size, size grading, subordinate constituents, color, density, moisture <br /> content, and organic vapor readings , will be recorded on field boring/well log maintained for each <br /> location . <br /> To avoid cross- contamination , the soil sampler and other reusable equipment will be broken down after <br /> each sample, cleaned using an approved non - phosphate detergent, double - rinsed in distilled water. <br /> Drill cuttings and decontamination waterwill be placed in DOT-approved 55 -gallon drums and temporarily <br /> stored on Site pending transportation under manifest to an appropriate disposal facility .
