Graphing of
these data show no recent declining trend in methane gas levels.
Based on this review, PHS-EHD and California Integrated Waste Management Board staff have
determined that a waiver pursuant to California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 27, Article 6, Section
20919 cannot be granted at this time. Therefore, by March 15, 1998, please compile and submit to PHS-
EHD a workplan to implement gas control at this landfill. The workplan should include the specific steps
that will be taken to implement gas control and a timeline for implementation.
In addition, one structure still exists on the landfill property and is currently not being monitored. By
February 23, 1998, either remove this structure from the facility as planned or begin gas monitoring in the
structure pursuant to CCR Title 27, Section 20919.5.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss this letter in more detail, please contact Linda Turkatte,
Senior REHS, at(209) 468-3441.
Karen Furst, MD, MPH
Health Officer
4*/40;`
Mike Huggins, Supervising REHS, RDI
Environmental Health Division
LT
c: Tim Crist, California Integrated Waste Management Board
Michael Keffer, California Integrated Waste Management Board
A Division of Sin Joaquin Countv Health Care Sera ices
I
