Box 1810
Stockton, CA 95201
REVIEW OF 1sT, 2ND,AND 3P QUARTER 2003 MONITORING REPORTS, CORRAL
HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY,WDID 5B390307001
We have reviewed the Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill, 1", 2"d, and 3r`I Quarter 2003 Groundwater and
Surface Water Monitoring Reports. Based on our review, we find the reports comply with Waste
Discharger Requirements Order No. 5-01-176.
Data show that there are increasing concentrations of inorganic constituents in monitoring wells, as well
as increasing VOCs in MW-5 (impacted well). The current remediation system includes a landfill gas
collection and flare system. As stated in the attached Monitoring Report Compliance Checklist, this
system does not remediate inorganic constituents in groundwater; therefore, concentration limits for
inorganic analytes must be developed for MW-5.
The format of Table 1 (see Reports), should be changed to reflect the latest concentration limit for each
constituent of concern (COC). As an example, when the statistical evaluation shows that nitrate is
statistically increasing a new limit is not recalculated and the result in Table 1 is a NE [2]. When this
occurs, Table 1 should reflect the latest calculated concentration limit for comparison.
Please address areas of concern noted in the attached Monitoring Report Compliance Checklist in
subsequent reports.
If you have any questions, contact me at 916-464-4737.
r
KINe
A.
