Pock Lane Residential Traffic Impact Study
3.6 INTERSECTION LEVEL OF SERVICE ANALYSIS— EXISTING CONDITIONS
This scenario evaluates the study intersections based on adjusted existing traffic volumes, and existing
lane geometry and traffic controls, as described above.Although the driveway that forms the north leg of
the Pock Lane & Mariposa Road intersection is unsigned, for analysis purposes, it was treated as yield
controlled and evaluated as a two-way stop. The peak hour factors calculated from the existing turning
movement counts were used for the study intersections for the Existing Conditions analysis. The results of
the LOS analysis using the HCM 61h Ed. methodology and Synchro 10 software program for Existing
Conditions are summarized in Table 3.
Under this scenario, all but one of the study intersections operate within applicable jurisdictional
standards during both peak hours. At the two-way stop controlled intersection of Pock Lane & Mariposa
Road, the northbound (stop controlled) approach operates at unacceptable LOS E during the p.m. peak
hour.
A peak hour signal warrant analysis was also conducted for this intersection, to determine if a traffic signal
is warranted. A signal is not warranted at Pock Lane & Mariposa Road during either peak hour. LOS and
peak hour signal warrant worksheets are provided in Appendix C.
Table 3: Intersection Level of Service Analysis— Existing Conditions
Intersection Peak Existing Conditions
ID Intersection Control Hour Average z
Delay' LOS
1 Mariposa Rd.&8th St. Signal AM 23.0 C
PM 29.2 C
2 Pock Ln.&Mariposa Rd.
