Geotechnical Engineering Investigation Page 19 of 24
New Residential Subdivision
2706 Pock Lane
Stockton, CA 95205
March 30, 2021 CTE Job # 25-1097G
5.8 Seismic Design Criteria
In general accordance with the 2019 CBC, Section 1613.2.2, CBC Site Class is based on the
average characteristics of the upper 100 feet of the subsurface profile. The 2019 CBC requires a
site soil profile determination extending to a depth of 100 feet for seismic site classification.
Soils that underlie the site are considered to be consistent with Site Class D materials. Site ground
motion with 10%probability of exceedance in 50 years is presented in Table 5.8,below. The table
is based on United States Geological Survey's (USGS) Probabilistic Seismic Design Maps
webpage (online htip:Hearthquake.usg_s..ov/designmaps/us/gpplication.php) for the site
coordinates 37.930777° latitude and -121.243624° longitude. The referenced USGS design maps
are based on the design code reference document, ASCE 7-16 Standard.
TABLE 5.8
SEISMIC GROUND MOTION VALUES
PARAMETER VALUE CBC REFERENCE(2019)
Site Class' DZ ASCE 7,Chapter 20
Mapped Spectral Response
0.707g Figure 1613.2.1 (1)
Acceleration Parameter, Ss
Mapped Spectral Response
0.278g Figure 1613.2.1 (2)
Acceleration Parameter,S,
Seismic Coefficient,Fa 1.235 Table 1613.2.3 (1)
Seismic Coefficient,F,,3 2.044g Table 1613.2.3 (2)
ASCE 7 Section 11.4.8
MCE Spectral Response
0.873g Section 1613.2.3
Acceleration Parameter, SMs
MCE Spectral Response
4 0.568g Section 1613.2.3
Acceleration Parameter, SM1
Design Spectral Response
0.582g Section 1613.2.5 (1)
Acceleration Parameter, SDs
Design Spectral Response Section 1613.2.5 (2)
Acceleration Parameter, SDI 0.379g ASCE 7 Section 11.4.8
Mapped MCE Geometric Peak
0.295g ASCE 7,Chapter 21
Ground Acceleration,PGA
