San Jose Road, Tracy
APN 209-290-32, SR0083411
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study for the above noted location, and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OVVTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater for the following proposed
5-bedroom primary house and a 5-bedroom second unit dwelling.
Based on the information provided, the EHD concurs with the recommendations in the report:
1. The SSNL Study supports the (OVVTS) usage with the following conditions:
The mounded septic system shall meet all requirements from well(s), foundation and property
lines.
The mound systems are to be 200' long and 30' wide.
The height of mound system shall be approximately 2.75 feet higher than surrounding grade with
slope of not exceeding 5:1. The slope of the mound system shall be demonstrated to EHD
inspector. The slope of parcel should be flat and should be demonstrated to EHD inspector.
The filter media of the mound bed shall be sand media tested by an engineer laboratory or be a
certified by the san supplier before emplacement. A sieve analysis (ASTM C-33 Specification)
should demonstrate the sand media material must not have more than 20 % by weight of material
greater than 2 mm diameter and no more than 2% by weight passing the No. 200 sieve (washed
sand). Effective diameter should be .20mm to .30 mm with a uniformity Coefficient (D60/D10).
The installment of filter media shall be conducted with supervision of EHD inspector.
The gravel on top of mound bed shall 1/4 inch to 2.5 inch washed drain rock. The placement of
drain rock shall be conducted with supervision of EHD inspector.
The soil cover and soil cap must consist of a silt loam material to allow oxygen diffusion into the
mound system.
Construction of laterals shall conform to engineer design plan. EHD inspector shall be observe
lateral squirt test.
h. When the primary mound systems fails the only alternative for replacement area is that the
primary mound systems to be removed and another installed over the existing footprints with
same material and criteria.
Note: The above-mentioned requirements for mound system are major concerns that require EHD
extra supervision. It is the owner responsibility to ensure the mound system meets all requirements
mentioned in the engineer design.
1868 E.
