CALIFORNIA 9S20S <br />TELEPHONE 944.2414 (AREA CODE 2091 <br />May 21, 1985 <br />Ms. Donna Gardner <br />1206 Struck <br />Orange, CA 95607 <br />Ell; <br />MAY 22 1985 <br />ENVIkU!%4EN'rAL HEALTH <br />F ERMIT/SERVICES <br />RE: Abandoned Underground Storage Tank at the Standard Gas <br />Station on Thornton Road, Thornton. <br />Dear Ms. Gardner: <br />On April 17, 1985, this office sent you a letter to advise <br />you that the above-mentioned property is in violation of the <br />Uniform Fire Code Article 4, Section 4.101 and Article 79 <br />Section 79.221, B, C and E which read as follows: <br />Article 4, Section 4.101: Permits are required from the <br />Bureau of Fire Prevention to remove, abandon, place <br />temporarily out of service or otherwise dispose of any <br />flammable or combustible liquid tank. <br />Section 79.221 B: Any tank not used for a period of 90 <br />days shall be properly safeguarded or removed in a manner <br />approved by the chief. <br />C: Tanks "Temporarily Out of Service" shall have the fill <br />line, gage opening and pump connection secured against <br />tampering. Vent lines shall remain open and be maintained <br />in accordance with the requirements of this article for <br />vent lines. . <br />E: Any underground tank which has•been abandoned for a <br />period of one year shall be removed from the ground and <br />the hole properly filled. If circumstances warrant, <br />however, such tank may be abandoned in place and <br />safeguarded in a manner and with material approved by the <br />chief. <br />We also requested that you contact the Local.Health District <br />to'obtain the necessary permits for removal of underground <br />tanks. <br />An inspection of this property revealed that you have not <br />complied with the requirements as stated in this letter.
